Penn-Plax Presents The Cascade 170 Submersible Filter, which quietly delivers crystal clear water throughout the aquarium. Designed for tanks up to 10 Gallons in size, this filter cycles water at a rate of 45 Gallons per Hour (GPH), making it suitable for Freshwater and Nano aquariums, as well as a variety of Terrarium setups.

The Cascade 170's adjustable flow switch allows for increased or decreased water flow at will, which is extremely helpful during feeding times, or can be used as needed. The directional flow nozzle provides additional tank customization and convenience. Furthermore, the filter utilizes 4 suction cups, enabling both vertical and horizontal mounting positions.

The Cascade 170 comes equipped with a small, internal Bio-Sponge that optimizes the colonization of anaerobic bacteria, while also providing mechanical filtration to trap large particulate matter. Although accessing the Bio-Sponge can be a bit tricky, the internal media chamber can be customized with other filter media to meet the specific needs of your tank.

One of the standout features of the Cascade 170 is its Venturi Aeration system, which provides your tank with filtered, oxygenated water. This eliminates the need for a separate air pump, as the filter combines both functions. Simply connect the Air Tube and Air Muffler to the Flow Nozzle, and follow the included instructions. It's important to fully submerge and fill the filter with water before turning it on.
